Dan's duties include overseeing development and implementation of special projects including the Kit for New Parents program and community relations. He performs outreach work as liaison between the Commission and the community and develops local public relations programs. He also prepares press releases, marketing materials, and helps monitor community programs for the Commission.

Before joining the Children and Families Commission staff in 2001, Dan was a Community Partnership Team Leader/Media Specialist for the United States Census Bureau. As coordinator of the Census 2000 awareness campaign in Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties, Dan's community outreach work helped the area garner one of the highest census mail back rates in California and the United States. Dan has more than 15 years of media experience. Prior to his work for the Census Bureau, he was the Modesto News Bureau Chief and a Public Affairs host for KCRA-TV in Sacramento.

Dan is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor's degree in Journalism.

In his spare time, Dan enjoys traveling, reading, and playing tennis.
